What Weeds does your Garden Grow...

I am reminded of a story I once heard about two neighbors who were admiring their next door neighbors yard. One said to the other, "I sue wish I had his yard." His friend replied, "If you had his yard, in about six months it would look like your yard." They both laughed and admitted that the neighbor does things to his yard that he doesn't do: "When he sees weeds, he pulls them. When I see weeds, I resent them."

Dental practice are like yards, where - left to their own devices, weeds thrive, invite other weeds to join them, and eventually crowd out all the beautiful flowers. Good gardeners (read: dentists) pull the weeds as soon as they spot them. Good gardeners understand that weed pulling is not a once-per-year job. A yard requires ongoing maintenance.

What about your garden (read: practice)? Are there weeds (poor performance, issues, etc) that are not being pulled? If you are not constantly maintaining your yard, you will soon be overgrown with challenges that will be extremely difficult to overcome. Are you spending time providing valuable facet-to-face feedback? If not, why not?

Continued Success to you and your Team!

Sincerely,
