Some Time to Reflect...

How was 2010 for you? Did you achieve everything you wanted? Was it less than great? I have good news for you, this is your chance to push the reset button and start anew.

January 1st is a chance to be reborn. No matter who you are or where you are located, everyone comes back to the starting line again. Once the clock strikes midnight on December 31st, all the pains, joys, successes, or failures are wiped clean and the door to the previous year shuts forever.

It's decision time and you need to make a choice. Is this the year you will set out to accomplish the Practice of your Dreams or will you sit on the sidelines watching others live-out their dreams?

Here are some tips to help you:

Set big goals, but not ridiculous goals: Your teammates aren't stupid. Unrealistic goals are "de-motivating" and often set you up for failure. Make sure you include some stretch in your goals but not too much that they serve no one. Get your team involved in this process!
Create Action Plans that help lead you to your goals: determine all the activites you and your team must accomplish in order to achieve the goals you identified in step #1.
Communicate: You need to let others know your intentions, your plans, your dreams so they can help take you there. Make sure you lay-out your expectations clearly and ask them for commitment to those goals.
Track your Progress: If you are not tracking your progress you cannot make course corrections. If you are not using daily trackers, you are not optimizing your results.

Last bit of advice, orient yourself toward the future and think of what you want and where you are going. Stop making excuses (the economy, my team, our patients, our location, etc.) and start making progress. Take responsibility today and start 2011 by practicing "No-Limit Thinking." Build your plan, take action, and monitor your results.
