Our Beliefs Can Get Us Into Trouble...

An obstacle for many us - myself included - is that we are in love with our beliefs, so convinced that they are true and right, that we do not even consider - for one moment even - that our truths may only have an element of truth in them. Or that they were true once, and now no longer true. Or that they are true in theory, but reality tells us otherwise.

Truth is (pun intended), it's not our thoughts or feelings that get us into trouble. It's our attachment to them, our belief that we are right that gets us into trouble!

When our false version of the truth is not explored fully, we continue to practice old habits and attacking wrong problems with incomplete solutions. We are left wondering...why doesn't anything seem to work?

The point I'd like you to consider is that being "strong" and being "right" can be turn-offs, not turn-on's. Humility and modesty are humanistic qualities that are endearing to others. People are intimidated by Perfectionists.

Now, you may be great, who am I to argue, you may even know your stuff - but you're not that great, and you don't know everything. We need dentists and dental teams to be more open, more flexible, less egotistical, and less hypocritical. What is desperately called for is an ability to loosen our death grip on whatever we believe to be the truth simply because it is how we want the truth to look.

We must be honest with ourselves and demand honesty from others.

Can you do this? Are you with me?

Continued Success to you and your Team!

Sincerely,

Art Deden
